Everything in Everyway

Yukon Blonde Press Photo

Hi! Here's a little introduction to what shall be an outrageous, colourful collection of tour Blogs, Vlogs and Flogs from YUKON BLONDE. On November 17th, our beast of a vehicle which we recently named "Go Van Gogh" will embark on what we hope to be our most glorious journey to date! The sexy crew consists of Jeffrey Innes, Brandon Scott, Graham Jones, Adam Newton, sound guru and Swedish sex icon Svennon Peterson, and last but not least, the hansom bundle of JOY/merch guy Leeroy Smith.

Throughout this tour, from coast to coast, we we will be taking turns giving you insight to what sort of mayhem takes place when we get together. And, every step of the way, we'll keep you posted with wonderful stories of our adventurous endeavors. Anyways, we're really excited to rock in/out of the Van, sleep on couches, eat canned beans, make new friends, and most importantly share our music!

See you on the road!

Sincerly,
Graham

The last week has been a rough one health wise, we keep circulating the same sickness over and over in the van, and unfortunatly had to cancel our Ottawa show last night so we could get some antibiotics, rest and get better.  So we’re all very sorry for missing that show, that’s the first show we’ve ever had to cancel in the last four years. However, today is a new day and we’re off to play Aliston tonight!

Below are some shots from the past few days:

This is the first time we’ve had our name in lights!   Kingston was a blast, we ended up staying with Dan Curtis, probably has the best collection of Star Wars figures in Canada! (397)

Thanksgiving and beyond!

October 17th, 2009 by yukonblonde

Why hello blog readers!

Again, very sorry for being so silent the past few days,  Im not even sure where to begin.

The University of Toronto was kind enough to have us play four tracks at CUIT radio station last friday, that were aired on Thanksgiving Monday.

We continued our journey to Hamilton, playing at the Casbah with The Paint Movement and Make Your Exit.  Love all those cats! Best bands to share the stage with! (Thanks Mike for letting us crash in your vacant house) I used every item in my suitcase as mattress!

Then it was Barrie time, we’ve heard this was gunna be a party town, and indeed it twas!  I just have to say Fox Jaws treated us like royalty for our entire stay, as soon as we arrived there was cold beer waiting, BBQ chicken and pasta for dinner, and best of all an OPEN BAR at the show! Needless to say we got wwaaaaaaaaaaaaasted…. hahaha, what a show. We’ve never asked for a Jagermeister shot and ended up getting a pint glass full, for free! Amazing.  Unfortunatly, Sven had his coat stolen by a couple of Columbian hussies, (inside the coat pockets: Blackberry, custom fit professional earplugs, Raybans, and the handy ol’ sound guy flashlight). We caught them red handed with Graham’s parka! So if you happen to see two Columbians in Barrie, wearing an army coat, say hi for us!  Anywho, the night was a blur, I just remember having one heck of a dance party afterwards with the friendly folks of Barrie! (HUGE HUGE thanks to Carleigh, and Andrew for cooking up the best breakfast we’ve ever had the next morning! saved our lives)

After Barrie it was off to Brampton to feast yet again for Thanksgiving dinner at Lee’s mothers. I cant tell you how good it feels to have a home cooked meal soaked in gravy.  It only took five minutes after eating before the triptifan had kicked in to make us all nap for a few hours. Thanks mom!

Our time in Toronto

October 7th, 2009 by yukonblonde

Its been a few days since we blogged, after Montreal we traveled to Ottawa, (thanks to Emma for letting us crash and buying us a case of Paps!!) We then did a little backtracking, and headed on our way to Sudbury.  (Big thanks to Clayton for putting on a fantastic show for us, and then taking us to see Zeus after wards, by far the best band in Canada!)  The next morning after a quick thrift adventure at VV, we made our way to St. Catherines, shared the bill with The Balconies (the guitarist ripped our faces off)  and the fun spastic sounds of OH NO Forest Fires!!

Last night however, was the best night of all, we were fortunate to play the all mighty Horseshoe Tavern, for our E.P Release (the records didn’t exactly make it on time though…wump wump…)  Today has been recovery, we managed to kill a mini keg last night to celebrate our good friend Spencer from Said the Whale’s birthday! He’s always there till the better end (the guy falls asleep on the floor, with his still muddy boots and glasses on)

Here’s some photos from the show thanks to Alex! (www.missionlessdays):

Hey World,

Just hanging out in Ottawa, played last night at the Cafe Dekcuf with Fox Jaws, we have a big drive to Sudbury today so I’m sorry I don’t have  too much time to blog, but I’ll throw up some photo’s of our days at POP Montreal!! We had such a blast, big thanks to Holly and Val for putting us up for three days! (and Megann for taking team Adam/Sven/Leeroy).

MADE IT TO MONTREAL!!!!!

September 30th, 2009 by yukonblonde

Good Evening. It’s been a long, long journey, the past few days we’ve covered a lot of our native land; however that’s our passion.  We’re explorers and we’ve been searching for China! We continued our journey from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay, we played the Apollo and was greeted with hugs, love and best of all, homemade dinner, thanks to the owners, Sheila and Tina….OH! and Dino, a local brick layer who got us wasted on some obscure shots! (see photo below)

DINO!

The next morning, we made our way across Northern Ontario, a vast, soggy wasteland; yet beautiful, and perfect for personal ghost stories.  Thanks to some kind employees at a local trading post in the middle of who knows where? We took their advice on a short cut to Quebec,  I wish I could describe the sights and sounds of our journey through the night. This short cut turned into a 30 hour voyage from Thunder Bay to Montreal, it turned all our good feelings into really bad feelings.

Driving Circles in the Prairies.

September 26th, 2009 by yukonblonde

Well hi there.  Graham, from Yukon Blonde reporting in.  How much fun I have to tell you about the past few days! Thursday evening we arrived in the city of cows, enjoying beautiful prairie sunsets, and played a show at The Palomino.  Along with our little brothers from different mothers, We Are the City, we had a bangin’ night, aside from some minor altercations with the house sound guy who was awfully jealous of our Swedish sound man Svenson.  After the show, we had the pleasure of comfy beds to sleep in, and a hearty breakfast the next morning courtesy of my brother and his lovely wife.

Next, we were off to Lethbridge, Alberta where we had another great show…and this time in a new city to all of us.  That night we sadly said goodbye to We Are The City (who played an amazing set), packed our van, and departed the city at 2AM for a long all-nighter drive to Winnipeg Manitoba.  Brandon and I shared driving duties, taking turns napping/mashing the highway.   This ridiculous excursion seems to have taken it’s toll on our bodies…and I’m feeling like a bag of shit.  I hear Sven’s being scandalous and spreading rumours of me having H1N1…bah.  Anyways, I’m crossing my fingers we get a decent sleep tonight!   Currently, I’m stage side of an amazing church hall show getting ready to play…  So excited to watch the local band The Playing Cards and Victoria BC’s Vincat!  Pumped!

Yours Truly,

Graham
